About J.About J.P. Sauer & Sohn:

The firm of J.P. Sauer & Sohn is the oldest firearm manufacturer in Germany. The company was founded in 1751 in Suhl, a German township noted as a center for arms manufacture as early as the 15th century. Over the years, Sauer's experience in firearm design and manufacturing encompassed both handguns and long guns. In 1938, the company introduced an innovative new double-action semiautomatic pistol, the Sauer 38H, which featured the first cocking and decocking lever ever used on a mass-produced pistol. In 1951, J.P. Sauer & Sohn relocated to Eckernfoerde on the Baltic Sea. Here they began perfecting a new barrel making process called cold hammer forging which, by compressing the barrel material around a mandrel with hammers, provides significantly greater bore life and shot-to-shot consistency.

Today's Sauer hunting rifles are an outstanding example of how tradition and innovation can work together in perfect harmony. At Sauer, most components are produced on the latest CNC machining centers to guarantee consistent tolerances and quality. Barrel manufacturing is done by the proven cold hammer forging process. Stocks are made of selected, well-seasoned American claro walnut, shaped and inletted by machine and then painstakingly hand-finished. The results speak for themselves... sporting firearms renowned worldwide for the quality of their craftsmanship and the elegance and innovation of their design.

Only 6 Sauer 90 rifles imported into United States chambered in .222 Remington.
